Navigator Set-up
Navigator uses the same password as the iSeries (green screen). Password maintenance for Navigator is done in the green screen via the WRKUSRPRF command and associated system values.
- The QPWDEXPITV variable determines the password expiration interval.
- The QPWDEXPWRN variable determines the password expiration warning.
You can use WRKSYSVAL to set these system variables
When logging into Navigator:
- If a user's password is expired, they are unable to change their password or login to Navigator. Their password will need to be reset via the Green Screen (GS) either by an Admin, or by logging into the GS. If the password expires, it has to be reset via the green screen.
-
The Expiring Password prompt will appear based on the QPWDEXPWRN system value. The prompt will show the number of days remaining until the users' password expires, and the opportunity to change reset their password.
-
If the QPWDEXPWRN value isn't set, users will not be provided with the expiring password prompt and will not be able to reset their passwords.
It is recommended to set your QPWDEXPWRN value to at least 14 days.
-
If the Expiring password prompt is displayed and the number of days before expiration is 7 or less, users will not be given the option to "Continue to Navigator". They will be required to reset their password at that time.
- Within Navigator, the expiring password notification warning will be provided for a minimum of 14 days. If the QPWDEXPWRN value is greater than 14 then the warning notification will be provided based on that value.
